Meet Jason Mundie
Jason has faithfully served as the Director of the Christian Student Center at UT – Knoxville for the past five years and has recently felt called to transition into a Preaching Minister role. His wife, Megan, is also excited about Jason’s new position, which will keep their family in Knoxville as she begins her new position with the University of Tennessee.
Jason and Megan are parents to Magdalene (Maggie) and Anniah. They love to travel and are connoisseurs of specialty coffee. Jason graduated from The University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Media Art and also holds a Master's in Christian Arts with a concentration in Evangelism and Church Planting. Jason has worked for multiple churches and ministries and has also taught Bible at Madison Academy in Alabama.
The Mundie family is thrilled to begin worshipping with us on September 1, 2025, with Jason’s first sermon being shared on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

What’s something unique about your journey to Hardin Valley?
"With all of my ministry jobs that I have had since college it has been clear to me that God has orchestrated it and it is where God was wanting me. This is true for Hardin Valley as well. The pieces all seemed to fall in place effortlessly and there was a peace from the Holy Spirit throughout the whole process which happened really fast and during a hectic time in our lives. The similarities that led me to Hardin Valley and my other ministry jobs are strikingly similar."
What’s one thing you’re most excited about in this new season of ministry?
The thing I am most excited about is getting a front row seat in seeing how God will accomplish His kingdom work through Hardin Valley.
What led you to ministry—and specifically preaching ministry?
I have been feeling a call to preaching ministry for a while now. Being able to share Christ and make scripture come alive so others are drawn closer to Him is a passion of mine and preaching ministry aligns with that really well. I love pointing people to Jesus and showing how He is better than what the world has to offer.
What’s your favorite way to recharge or relax as a family?
We love to play games. Strategic board games and recently playing Mario Kart World, Overcooked 2, or Mario Party.
What’s a book (or two) that has shaped your faith recently?
Jason - My favorite fiction and non-fiction books that I have read this year are Theo of Golden by Allen Levi and The Problem of Life by Mark Clark. Theo of Golden is a phenomenal story of how intentional living can transform a community and The Problem of Life speaks into many of the challenges individuals in the western world face and how the Bible and God addresses them.
Megan - While working on my dissertation, I read On Intellectual Activism by Patricia Hill Collins. While this book would not fall into the traditional spiritual or religious categories, I think the work of Collins aligns in a beautiful way with the purpose and message of Christianity. This challenged me to consider the ways in which faith can overlap in education-oriented spaces.

What’s one fun fact or hidden talent people might not expect about each of you?
Jason - I can pour latte art (the designs on the top of lattes and cappuccinos)
Megan - I was an extra on the movie Selma and you can see me behind the principal actors on the bridge scenes. If you spot the nuns, look slightly to the left and there I am!

How can the church family pray for your family in this season of transition?
Prayers for peace as we are going through a lot of transition all at once. Switching churches, jobs for both Megan and Jason, as well as foster care and adoption process with Anniah.
What do you hope people feel when they interact with HVCOC?
I hope that they see and can feel the love of God. Feel welcomed and know that HVCOC is a place where they will be supported in their spiritual journey to Christ and their transformation in becoming more Christ-like.
