Our Vision For The Future
Hardin Valley Church of Christ was founded on the vision of serving Christ, sharing God's word, and changing lives. This vision is being realized in both spiritual and physical growth. With much prayer and thoughtfulness, the church continues to seek God's guidance in addressing the present growth.
In seeking God's guidance, we recognize the continued need for Hardin Valley to have
"Open Doors" in order to become all that He desires for us.
We need to be:
| • |
Open to spiritual growth from the Word God has entrusted to us, |
| • |
Open to the opportunities God places before us, |
| • |
Open to those God sends to us who need His love and salvation, |
| • |
Open to serving and meeting the needs of the community, and |
| • |
Open to recognizing and sharing the blessings God gives us. |
Hardin Valley Church of Christ began meeting in the spring of 2006 with 160 people. Since that time, the Lord has blessed us with amazing physical and spiritual growth. With an average attendance in 2011 of 424 and a maximum attendance of 534, this physical growth has brought challenges due to the limited classroom and worship space. While the current worship space can be reconfigured to accommodate up to 736 people, every available area for classrooms, including the kitchen, storage room, and lobby, is being used. With the average Sunday school attendance of 327, all children's classrooms are at or over capacity, and adult classroom space is limited. As a result, there is very limited space to increase outreach, youth and community ministries.
After diligent prayer, study, and planning, the shepherds and building committee recommend a $2.5 million expansion to create space for education and ministries. This expansion will provide classroom space for 650 in Bible study and will allow space for ministry development. This building expansion, while it will require financial sacrifice, is fiscally feasible for our congregation and will not affect current ministries.
To accomplish this goal, we will begin a three-year capital campaign, launching on Sunday, February 12, 2012. Please pray for the success of this endeavor and, more important, for personal spiritual growth.
We ask that you pray that God will be glorified in this campaign, that the community will see God through this church, and that God will guide you as you consider how your goals and gifts can be aligned with His will. The greatest result of the campaign can be a strengthened and unified commitment to the Lord.
